Other China Notes

Additional China space activity and orbital-position updates from late November and early December 2023.

29 Nov: Commercial imagery revealed an explosion at Jiuquan. China made no announcement, but it appears likely to have involved CASIC/Expace, and either a KZ-1A or KZ-11 rocket.

4 Dec: Galactic Energy had a successful return to flight of its CERES-1 launch vehicle. The rocket launched from Jiuquan and carried two satellites: Tianyan 16 (meteorological) and Starpool 1A (remote sensing).

8 Dec: After operating at a test location of 128.7°E from 17-24 November, Chinasat-6E increased its altitude 107 km on 24 Nov and drifted west until 5 Dec, when it returned to GEO at 115.5°E. It is now west of both Chinasat-6C and Chinasat-6D.

8 Dec: TJS-3 and TJS-10 continue to operate in the same vicinity, at 173.0°E and 173.5°E respectively, both with 0.1° inclination. TJS-10 increased its altitude approximately 3.5 km on 28 Nov to reverse its eastward drift.
